I was born in Bilbao where I graduated in Art at the University of the Basque Country / Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea, specializing in photography and performance. During the last year of my career I started a degree in Sociology at the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia, studies that I have temporarily paused. I did a Master in Scenic Practice and Visual Culture coordinated by Artea in collaboration with the Museo Nacional y Centro de Arte Reina Sofia in Madrid. This year I finished the Master in Ceramics at the University of the Basque Country / Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea. My approaches are varied but always guided by a common theme: the construction of identity, particularly the identity of the homosexual subject in 21st century Europe. From that space, I constantly work on a revision of sexuality, gender and sex and their direct relationship with capitalist culture and liberal policies, always from the audiovisual, performative and textual, combining it with ceramics, a technique that has recently arrived to my artistic practice.
In 2022 I participate in the collective ceramic exhibition “LOHIA” at the Sala Juntas Generales in Bilbao. Four of my pieces are acquired by the Provincial Council of Bizkaia to be part of its permanent collection. This same year I have also exhibited drawings in the exhibition “We are everywhere” at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Kyoto University, Japan. This year I have also made murals for private clients in Madrid, Bilbao and Burgos. In 2021 I participate in the group exhibition of the Tom Of Finland Foundation in Los Angeles, USA, with a series of homoerotic drawings. That same year two of my works appear in the series Queer as folk and are part of the reboot of the series for international distribution through the production company NBC. In 2019 I am awarded a grant by the Bilboarte Foundation to carry out a six-month artistic residency and realize my pictorial project “Las Noches”.
I start 2018 with a solo exhibition of drawings at Horst Gallery (Zaragoza) called “BURNING”. In June of the same year I exhibit in Crack in Madrid a series of drawings called “VACACIONES”. I also exhibit in Barcelona at Haimney Gallery my solo “What a gay day to be alive!” and my project “Hercules era” is selected for the call Artnit Campos 2018 in Mallorca. That year I also participate with my performance “Imagen.deseo” in the festival Bullshit in Montevideo (Uruguay) thanks to 2 grants awarded by Iberescena and Pice. In addition, I participate in the annual group exhibition of Gunter Gallery. In 2017 I exhibit at Sala Umbral de Primavera (Madrid) a series of paintings reinterpreting the figure of San Sebastian called “LOS SANTOS”. In 2016 I exhibit “Un astronauta/un niño cowboy/un beso canibal”, at El Umbral de Primavera (Madrid).
I have also participated in group exhibitions such as “Je ne sais pas encore exactement” (Paris, 2013), “Fabricate Exhibition” (Sheffield, 2013), “Aurrekontua/ Presupuesto 5” (Bilbao, 2014), “Transito” (Bilbao, 2014), and “Egiten dugu” (Gueñes, 2015). In 2013 I won the 2nd prize in the III Certamen de Arte Hotel Carlton (Bilbao) with the work “Tu seras mon roi soleil”, and in 2014 my piece “CASUS BELLI/ MEA CULPA” was selected to participate in the interventions in the Deusto Bridge (Bilbao), organized by the UPV/EHU in collaboration with the City Council of Bilbao. In 2016 my project “TECHNOLOLA”, an audiovisual and performative research around techno music and the figure of Lola Flores, is selected to participate in the Contemporary Practices Exhibition GETXOARTE 2016.
I also co-direct the project ElPuñalDorao, a four-monthly event in Madrid where I highlight abject identities through the vindication of nightlife in art that has taken place in Madrid, Bilbao, Barcelona, and Valencia so far. Within the performance and scenic, I can highlight my stay in Paris where, tutored by Cuban artist Tania Bruguera, I made two performances as part of my Erasmus at Ecole Superieure des Beaux Arts de Paris. My final project, “FATFREEMILK” was tutored by the Basque artist Txaro Arrazola, based on an anthropological study of the notion of gender and the construction of identity in art through the alter ego. I present my proposal “ARCHIVO. MOV” at the BULLSHIT 2016 festival at Teatro Pradillo. In 2017 I visit Mexico and present my work “ARCHIVO.IMAGEN” at Museo Universitario El Chopo and I was invited by the Faculty of Philosophy of the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid to present the same work. In 2016 I have participated in different workshops led by artists such as Itziar Okariz at Sala El Aguila, or with Francisco Ruiz de Infante and Olga Mesa. I participated in the performance “where everyone is guilty, no one is” made for the Cabello/Carceller exhibition at CA2M and in the reinterpretations of Alan Kaprov’s works in 2017.
